No man in the world has more courage than the man who can stop after eating one peanut.

We have a dream…

StanMan’s Kitchen is a family business owned by Neil and Nicky Wildin from Gloucester. Tired of their rewarding but frantic corporate lifestyles, the couple decided in the Autumn of 2007 that there must be more to life than motorways and airports and commenced their search for suitable premises for their delicatessen.

Finally in May 2008 they spotted the perfect location on Westgate St, Gloucester. Empty for almost two years, previously occupied by the Falmouth Pasty Company, the premises was in dire need of some TLC but had the potential!

Having now given up their day jobs, said their fond farewells to friends and colleagues, they collected the keys on 1st April and began the journey to create StanMan’s Kitchen, Delicatessen, Grocery and Gift Store.

And what a journey it has been to date! From visiting  Clive at Shipton Mill,  just outside Tetbury to Dani, from the Cotswold Ice Cream Company nr Northleach; to Liz at Godsells Cheese in Leonard Stanley plus many others, the quality and the richness of Gloucestershire produce is superb, equaled only by the support, expertise and welcome  of the producers themselves.

Neil and Nicky are committed to working with local suppliers where possible. This commitment was extended to local businesses and tradesmen whom have played an integral part in the refurbishment of the store, the design of the brand and the provision of the necessary catering and IT equipment.

I am sure by now you will have grasped that Neil and Nicky are passionate about Gloucestershire and great local food (amazing seeing as Nicky is Welsh!) The store will retail mainly locally produced goods from the area and neighbouring counties. StanMan’s Kitchen will be all about the people and will be at the heart of local life. The location on Westgate St makes the shop accessible to local folk, city workers and the numerous visitors whom flock to Gloucester.
Neil and Nicky have four children, David, 20, Meg, 18, Mia, 9 and last but by no means least, Stan, 7.

Stan, you might have guessed was the inspiration for the name of the business! Since he muttered his first words, he has always referred to himself as StanMan (ask the super staff at Into Play Nursery, Longlevens if you don’t believe us!)

Neil and Nicky are helped in the store by their eldest children David and Meg when uni versity and job commitments permit whilst Mia and Stan  frequently offer feedback on the quality of the cheese and the cakes…

With the refurbishment complete, first orders placed and stress levels at their peak! StanMan  finally opened his door to customers  on Tuesday July 7th 2009.

The rest of the story is history in the making.

StanMans has been embraced by our loyal customers who we regard as friends. Some visit daily, some weekly, it doesn’t matter the most important thing is they come, they enjoy and the local economy thrives.

Most customers are known by name, StanMan knows their favourite tipple, sandwich or indulgence.
